The 2013 Smarter Than Smoking Senior State Motocross Championships promoted by WAMX is rapidly approaching with riders and families gearing up for another 6 rounds of heart pounding action.

With 2 country rounds and 4 metro rounds, 3 hard pack and 3 sand tracks, it seems to be a fairly even spread but anything could and usually does happen.

Dean  Porter will return to defend his dual State Titles in Pro Open and Pro Lite classes, battling against many top class riders in both classes. With some Junior riders moving up to the Senior ranks, there will be guaranteed excellent racing over the entire Series.

Round 1 and WAMX are returning to Kalgoorlie on April 21st for the first of the hardpack tracks.  A fast paced track which can be unforgiving but also rewarding to riders – we will see some excellent racing. The Women’s Championship also start their campaign at this round. Some very good riders hale from the Goldfields.

Lightweight Motorcycle Club at Hendley Park Byford is Round 2 on May 26th, the second of the hardpack tracks.  Dependent upon the weather, this track can put together a true mudfest or a very fast paced spectacular round. With excellent viewing of the track from the many vantage positions, spectators can always see the action. This is also round 2 of the Women’s Championship.

Half way point of the Series and Round 3 on June 23rd – Bunbury Motorcycle Club will be our host – a favourite track of many riders and very well prepared by the Club.

This event draws in huge spectator crowds every year.  Depending on the weather, this sand track can turn very deep and racing becomes a whole new ball game.

Onto more sand for Round 4 on 21st July at Coastal Park, Henderson with excellent viewing from the canteen and lawn areas. A challenging track but can guarantee some excellent racing.

Round 5 and we head up into the hills to BSA Motorcycle Club, Toodyay Road, Gidgegannup on August 18th.  Last year, the weather turned sour and it rained like there was no tomorrow but the riders raced on, slipping and sliding their way around to complete all 3 rounds. This year, the ladies join in the fun for their third and final round.  It should be an excellent day in the hills.

For round 6 on September 15th, back to AJS, Wanneroo Park, we go – minus the Quad class (due to the Quad Nationals).  This deep sandy track can get tough going and the quarry section has caused many a spectator to gasp. It will definitely be worth watching the State’s Best Riders battle it out in their final round and overall points for the State Motocross Championship.

With all tracks having good bar and canteen facilities – guaranteed bar to bar racing action, don’t miss out on seeing the best of WA’s motocross riders do battle in the field.

A huge thank you to the Motocross Clubs who are our hosts this year, the motocross families and their riders for joining us again in 2013.

Thank you to all our Sponsors and Advertisers for allowing us to be able to put together such a series – including Healthway, McLeods, Motorcycling Western Australia and not to forget our Officials and Volunteers who work from dawn to dusk at every event.

See you all soon in 2013.

Here’s our 2013 WA Motocross Championship season poster. The design was based on a concept developed by Grudge Graphics and set up for printing by Harding Design. Last year’s champions feature in the design along with our major title sponsor, Smarter than Smoking (Healthways).

Keep a look out for it near you!

WAMX are pleased to announce the Quad Only State Round will be held at Bunbury Motorcycle Club on May 5th, 2013.
