The halfway point of the WAMX Smarter Than Smoking Healthways State Championships is now becoming a regular fixture at Bunbury, when Round 3 hits the deep sands of Shrubland Park on Sunday June 15th at Bunbury’s home track in the South West of the state.

Big crowds always ensure an electric atmosphere, and with great facilities, and viewers vantage points are all around the track, the riders are set for a massive stage. The Bunbury Motorcycle Club is a favourite for many riders, whilst the hard packed riders will need their wits about them to maintain their charge in the points standings for the season.

After two electrifying rounds the Pro Open/MX1 championship points leader is Mandurah City KTM rider Louis Calvin on 142 points. Calvin was a sensation at Round 2 at Kalgoorlie, and stood up to the challenges from Kyle Webster in the previous two rounds. Calvin now holds a mere 6 point lead over BRM/Cully’sYamaha rider Kyle Webster on 136 points and KTM mounted Stevie Heilers on 104 points. Charlie Creech and Paul Humberston are separated by only three points and make up the top five positions, with Reece Colgan, Ash Whisler, Craig Bolton, Mitch Taylor and Robbie Clark all keen for the deep sands at Bunbury, and maximum points.

The Pro Lites/MX2 class points leader is Bunbury KTM’s Jayden Rykers on 138 points with last year’s champion Josh Adams in second on 126 points and Kyle Webster in third place on 120 points. The points chase is in full flight with David Birch, Robbo Lovett, Charlie Creech and Jake Pruiti looking for some strong results. Some of the best racing we have seen this year within the top ten with all riders capable of making the Bunbury round there’s, the podium awaits!

This round will also see the Women’s Championship starring series leader Court Hirst, Shelley Connor and Chelsea Blakers, it is hoped last year’s champ Jess Moore will be making her return to racing after being forced to sit out the series thus far, recovering from injury.

There will be full support classes including Intermediate Open / Lites, Pro / Clubman Vets Clubman Open and Clubman Lites.
