Cosy Creek Easter Double Header – the weather was perfect and so was the atmosphere. The track looked awesome and the mood was upbeat – smiling faces and the usual banter was everywhere. With self-scrutineering all done, qualifying for the day began for the nearly 200 Senior Riders.

The day’s racing had its ups and downs as some riders found out and the Cosy Creek circuit lived up to it’s reputation of being a formidable track.

The Veterans/Masters were the first class onto the track. James Craig was very quick to prove he still has what it takes and in the end took the overall win for the day from Stuart McFerran and Marc Payne in 3rd place for the Masters Championship. The Veterans were down on numbers surprisingly but raced their hearts out. Scott Petricevich took the win from Martin Costa and Daniel Woodman in 3rd.

In the Cullys Yamaha Women’s Championship – 19 ladies lined up on the gates and the crowd watched Tahlia O’Hare take it up to Jess Moore throughout the day in each and every race. All the ladies raced their hearts out and after round 1 there is only 25 points separating 1st through to 5th place. Jess Moore won the day with Tahlia O’Haire 9 points behind in 2nd place and Kara Cats in 3rd place – 6 points behind Tahlia.

The Brutum Logistics Quad Championships saw both #1 Chris Bosnakis line up against former #1 Luke Gaisford. There was excitement throughout their races all day with Luke coming out on top for the day with Chris in 2nd and Jakob Bosustow in 3rd place. 2017 #2 Blake Croonen did not have a great day with a DNF in the first race putting a dent in his hopes.

Planet Honda MX1 Championship was loaded with heavy hitters – David Birch, Josh Adams & Dylan Sexton making the move from MX2 into MX1. Thrills and spills abounded with a couple having a really bad race 1 and not coming back out for the day. Josh Adams took a spill and injured his right arm and #3 Chris Ruttico injuring his hand. Both of them said they were devastated but would be back in fighting form for Round 2. David Birch & Michael Mahon had some epic battles in each and every race with David coming out the winner for the day, Michael in 2nd place – 3 points behind and Paul Humbertson in 3rd place.

MX1 Repecharge had 14 riders on the gates after qualifying and some great racing was seen. Kile Scoon-Reid took the win 4 points ahead of Danny Mayes in 2nd place and after countback – Shay Bulmer took 3rd place.

With an epic 80 riders going into qualifying for the Motul/Pirelli MX2 Championship, we saw full grids for both the Championship Class and the Repecharge Class. With last year’s #1, #2 & #4 moving over to MX1, the field was wide open for rookies Matt Fabry & Joe DiGuillio. #3 Mitchell Outram battled hard throughout the day to finish 10th overall. The day was won by Daniel Pajewski, Matt Fabry took 2nd place from his brother Jayden Fabry.

MX2 Repecharge – 40 on the gate – was thrilling to watch and no one knew who would take the minor places with Jye Cormack putting in a stellar performance of 3 straight wins. In the end Jaxon Hawily took 2nd place from Tahlia O’Hare one point behind in 3rd place.

Our amazing Series will now head to Beverley MCC for Round 2 on 22nd April, where we will see the start of the Clubman Mini Series.
