The Collie Motorcycle Club hosted the second round of the Make Smoking History WAMX Junior State Championships on Sunday, where over 200 riders braved the cooler weather conditions and first rains of the motocross year, all adding to exciting day of racing action, with some surprise results to keep the championship on its toes for the season.

Deacon Paice made his intentions clear in the 50cc Auto class when he scooped the round win as a result of his (2-2-2) scorecard. Despite a challenging day for series leader Kayden Minear he managed to pick up second with Tate Paganini third. Seth Clark, Liam Hogan, Jake Rumens and Taj Moore were consistent for the day with Max Devery, Jett Matthews and Cohen Guyatt securing some points inside the top ten.

The 65cc class were combined and scored separately, and Tylar Soloman secured the top step of the podium in the 7-U10 years maintaining his lead in the series while Jake Harvey and Cobey Brown rounded out the podium results. Seth Clark and Kayden Minear kept their championships alive finishing in the top five.

In the older age group 10-12 Years Liam Atkinson took the round win despite some tough opposite from series leader and second place getter Cody Chittick, with both riders performing at their best with Seth Manuel taking the third step on the podium. Myles Gilmore, Brock Flynn, Kaj Radcliffe, Bailey Smith, Jack Doyle and Jordan Scoby-Smith were inside the top ten for the day.

85/150cc 9-12 years class Cody Chittick made a bold statement with his racing silencing the critics with the round win taking the first and third moto races. Seth Manuel picked up second (2-3-2) with Liam Atkinson taking the second moto win and securing third for the day. Evan Browne got his season back on track with some strong results with Jake Minear, Brock Flynn and Jayden Slater.

85/150ccc 12-16 class series leader Regan Duffy maintained his winning streak with the round win from Mitchell Outram in second and Jacob Daniels third for the day. Corben Weinert, Jai Gimenez, Rhys Burnett and Sam Baxter battled with Sam Stephen, Christian Silvestro and Sean Heard.

100/125cc 13-15 years class provided some of the best racing of the day with Mitch Outram standing atop the podium (1-1-1) Billy Middleton second for the day (2-2-2) and Kurt Oinn taking third place. Favourite Mat Fabry struggled in the conditions yet still kept his championship alive with Austin Ridley, local rider Cooper Shepherd, Luke Porter pushing hard with Jeffrey Head, Steve Fairham and Ben Sainsbury.

In the older age group, 100/125 cc 15 Years, the surprise package was Dale Doutch who maintained consistency to secure the round win and take over the series lead. Second step was reserved for Jonathon Hartley with Ryder Smith picking up third for the day . Dylan Hennessey, Cody Heggs, Justin Walker and Justin Hart battled it out for the points, as race one and two winner was Tom West. Both West and Hart lost valuable points with Hart recording a DNF with mechanical issue in the last moto and Tom West not lining up for the final moto of the day.

The 128-150cc/250cc class was dominated by Justin Hart (1-1-1), who was unstoppable all day taking the top step of the box from Billy Middleton (2-2-3) and Jake Woods with third for the round. Jonathon Hartley, Kai Stephen and Mat Fabry were battling within the top five with Justin Walker, Cory Perkin, Kurtis Bickerton and Cory Woodhead.

Early pace setter was Tom West who finished third in the opening moto, yet would take no further part in the day’s proceedings, thus shaking up the points heading towards the midway point of the season next month at the Lightweight Motorcycle Club at Byford, just south of Perth, and the first of the hard packed surfaces.
